What is this Bed bracket?
Curious what the purpose of this bracket that is part of the bed supporting structure? Bracket is located behind the hole for gas filler. It is connected to the bed structure by rivets at the top but would like to know what the two holes at the bottom are used? These two holes match two holes in bed structure. There also is a third hole in the bracket. The attached picture is looking at bottom side of the bracket.

Where the tail lamp bracket attaches to the underside of the bed.

Re: What is this Bed bracket?
The three holes are in the photo you posted. Two holes on the bed edge & one on the bracket.

Re: What is this Bed bracket?
Does 1932 use the same, or a similar mounting bracket?

So how or where does the passenger side tail light bracket attach? On my bed there is not the same support brace on passenger side. Should there be? Last edited by drfromnc; 09-01-2023 at 06:49 PM. Reason: More info |

Re: What is this Bed bracket?
There was none on the right side for LHD pickups just as there was none on the left side for RHD pickups. If you want a right side tail lamp, you have to make a duplicate of the bracket used on the left side.
Karl, The bracket used on '32 pickups is similar to that used on '33-'34 pickups, although it isn't quite as sturdy. |

Very interesting…I learned something today. Never knew they were only 1 tail lamp on the pickups. But I do have a RHD tail lamp bracket though. Here are the brackets I have: |

Re: What is this Bed bracket?
The bracket is the same for both LHD and RHD; the same bracket could be used on either side.
The '32 pickups were no different than the other '32 passenger cars, commercial vehicles, and big trucks; one tail light was standard equipment unless required by local lighting regulations. A second tail lamp was otherwise only available as a service part. |
