How do I resize photos?
Can't seem to get my photos sized the way the Barn wants them. What's the trick?

Re: How do I resize photos?
I use a MAC and immediately duplicate the photo, changing the ID to have "sm" for "small" in it. To resize photo, I open it in Preview and then go to Tools. In tools, select Adjust size, pick Custom, select Scale Proportionately and then select the larger of the two directions (Width or Height) and set that one to 800. The other should automatically adjust to 600. Save the new smaller image and you should be able to go.
I have absolutely no idea how to do this on a PC.

Re: How do I resize photos?
Microsoft Paint can also be used to reduce pixel count without affecting aspect ratio. Basically it just softens the resolution somewhat. If it's too large then reducing the size would be effective too. The type of file can make a difference. Switching to a regular jpg file can do the trick as well.

Re: How do I resize photos?
Lots of work arounds. Including using a app called photoresizerHD. Or the Postimage storage area will reduce them when you you load if you set the switches.
Good luck. Don't give up.we like pictures. Regards, Chris

Re: How do I resize photos?
I use the "Photos" application on a pc with Windows 10. Click on the three dots on the right end of the menu bar and a menu will drop down. There is a resize option there, I select the "M" size that says it is best for e-mails. Then I save a copy under a new file name, I put "resized" in the file name so I can remember which one to post. This photo size has always worked for me.

I have my camera set to take photos in the email mode. No need to resize.

Re: How do I resize photos?
From iPhone I email to myself. In the native app you’ll be prompted for what size. I always choose medium. From laptop (thinkpad or MacBook) I can save to files and attach to forum. Haven’t had any issues yet.

Re: How do I resize photos?
I emailed them to myself from my iPhone and then saved them to my computer, but they still will not upload when I try to use them on a posting on the Barn.

For iPhone or iPad I use the free version of this, all I do is crop the picture and save it then upload to the barn. |

Re: How do I resize photos?
Better yet, why can't the Ford Barn admin get the software changed to allow the photos, like most places are now.

In an attempt to help others post photos, I made a video that includes resizing using Windows Paint and posting the photo in full size: https://youtu.be/CGijbl1bfnI Another hint is to use the practice forum to play around.

PS: Jeff's YouTube video noted in post #15 just above (and linked BELOW) couldn't make it any easier for anyone who is SERIOUS about learning to post photos here on The 'Barn! https://youtu.be/CGijbl1bfnI . Last edited by V8COOPMAN; 05-24-2022 at 12:15 PM. |

Re: How do I resize photos?
I use a digital camera with the pixel count set low, then no resize needed. My internet here is probably not as good as some have, but over at the hamb where there is no size limit I have to wait for some pics to load. Its always the same guy's, only a few of them thank goodness, but heck we are not trying to reproduce fine art or counterfeit money, so why are the "super duper" photos used ? I'll bet no one can tell the difference

Re: How do I resize photos?
McGarrett,
If you have the photo on your computer screen Look for a accessory (windows) called Snip and Sketch. Use Snip and Sketch to take a new image of your picture, save that new version and use that to post to Fordbarn. In my experience that is always small enough to post here on the barn. You can also use it to zoom into just a pert of an image (crop) and add arrows and text to help explain what you are trying to show. I made a video once about posting images on here, but it is a bit out of date now. I did illustrate the snip and sketch app though. I found the video: https://youtu.be/dv-CO6QWCFg I just watched it through and it is actually still pretty relevant after all. Mart. |
