Default Interesting people you meet

I have met quite a few interesting people over the years, usually while working for them at there homes. Yesterday was a real thrill to me! I got a call from a lady who needed a ceiling fan and light fixture installed, some how as we were talking I mentioned I had a 36' Ford truck I was working on, she was very interested and that was a big surprise to me, even my wife couldn't care less what I do, and doesn't appreciate old Fords. Then she started talking about her dad, who recently passed away, and that he raced, flathead v8 fords, in the late 40s, was featured on the cover of Hot Rod magazine with his 32' 3 window coupe, and throughout his life was a pioneer of drag racing in California. She told me to look him up and read about him, she then brought out one of many trophy's he had won in the 50s. I'm sure many old timers in California have heard of Fran Hernandez. I found this just by typing his name in a search box! He was a very colorful guy in this hobby we love, I'm so happy I got that service call, and met the daughter of Fran Hernandez! She is a real cool lady, we are going to stay in touch via Facebook, and she will need some other work done in the future.

Here's more info on Fran Hernandez's life and accomplishments. Just amazing, first to use nitro methane fuel in a Mercury flathead to win the first organized drag race in 1948, credited with the term Funny Car, and his team made the first true Funny Cars. Worked with Offenhauser, Edelbrock, and other early hotrodders. An amazing guy!

Thank you I enjoyed reading that. Boy he had a great life and done it all. I bet he had a smile when they pulled the cover up on him. He made life fun and enjoyed it very much I would say. Thanks again
