Default 49 F1 Speedo Cable

Does anyone know the factory-correct outer length of a 49 pickup speedo cable?
The one I removed with a broken flexible drive was about 61 inches long but I had replaced that 30 years ago and can't remember if it matched the original. I bought one, reputedly for the F1, that was 77 inches long but there was a lot of length to lose between the gearbox and speedo. Also the inner flexible drive was too long and, believing there was nothing else readily available, I shortened it by 1/4 inch. However, the speedo needle flickered badly between 0 and 20 mph although it was steady after that. I later managed to find a 61 inch assembly from another supplier and this works well.

The 48 to 55 Truck Chassis parts book I have calls out P/N 8C-17260-A for 48 through 55 (and maybe later since this book stops at 1955). The length of the complete cable assembly is listed at 68.0" long. I don't know where they measure from for certain but they usually measure from tip to tip.

48-54 Parts catalog shows 68.00 inches for casing and 69.23 inches for core on 48-52 F-1 thru F-6 models. 3 or 4 speed trannys use same cable.

Casing measures from outer edge of the threaded nut to nut when stretched out and core is tip to tip.

Hey, thanks guys that's really helpful. Perhaps my shorter 61 inch cable relates to my pickup being a RH drive (New Zealand). With the speedo gear angled from the RH rear side of the gearbox I guess less length is needed to get to the RH side of the cab where my speedo sits.
