Frank nothing was there to open. If I'm following you correctly, you are right. A lady here in town where I live blew $52,000 on the stupid casino they have in the Quad Cities. She had to re-finance her house to pay the bill. At 70 years old I'd say she's done for,,,,, plus I see her at the gas station buying lottery tickets at 20 bucks a pop. A woman I worked with a few years ago did the same thing to the tune of $70,000. Her husband divorced her and they had been married almost 40 years.

Insane.Greed. It's a sickness and NO I refuse to buy a Powerball ticket because it is 1.3 billion dollars. You'd have a big fat bullseye painted on your back. I feel pity for whoever wins that.

I don't think I would be holding on to that thing with those storm clouds in the background.

I want to win it so I can buy more old Fords. With that much I can make Bill Harrah look like a piker. I only bought one ticket at .9 billion but now at 1.3 billion I told my wife to go buy 2 tickets.

They keep making the odds worse and worse the system gets greedy and soon hopefully people will realize that they can never win at such odds.

Someone said that these are being classified as 'drones' , so I suppose it's time to start thinking about getting a drone permit.

I have been told that collecting ww2 fighter planes or any antique aircraft for that matter is worse than antique cars. Pretty hard to sneak another one past the wife too. Antique motorcycle$ can be bad too, but easier to squirrel away. And that blimp hobby?..... 'Oh the humanity'.

I have a friend that collects restored high end antique wooded boats. I believe that the cheapest one is valued around 500K. Funny because most of them are worth too much to actually float them in water. That's whats nice about our old Fords, we can actually drive them like they were meant to be.

I've messed around with little, cheap airplanes for almost 50 years.
I've always told friends when they gripe about the cost of rebuilding an engine for a car that every gearhead should have to go thru ONE airplane engine.
They'd never gripe about the cost of car engines again.

His wife is probably quite happy he hasn't got the Hindenburg tethered in the backyard.

I've repaired restored antique/vintage boat motors for years. Even when they run like a sewing machine, they aren't worth very much. It was fun and satisfying though. I've since sold them all but 2.

Interesting hobby!
I would imagine that people want new engines for their boats so that they don't get stranded off shore if the motor breaks down. There was a previous poster that knows someone who collect and restore Antique boats so rare that he never puts them in the water.

Hi Everyone, The two are very similar and I couldn't find anything that gave good tips for telling the Macon and Akron apart.

I did find some more photos of this guy, and one that was in high resolution...

Very good, Jeff! Did ya know that both were lost in opposite (US) oceans, under the command of the same guy, who survived both mishaps? DD
