1935-36 Roadster Wind Wing Glass
Finally located new Wind Wing brackets for my 36 Roadster and now need Glass. The 1935-36 Ford Book says the correct Wind Wing glass has edges finished in black. Anybody out their know a source for the correct glass?
Thanks Mark |

Re: 1935-36 Roadster Wind Wing Glass
Early 1935 Ford Roadster/Phaeton Wind Wings Late 1935 Ford Roadster/Phaeton Wind Wings It seems that in 1935 that there were two different styles of Wind Wings for Roadsters and Phaetons. The early type used the same Mounts as the 1933-1934 Fords, then towards the end of the 1935 production, they received the new Stanchion similar to the 1936 Fords, which mounted the glass differently. The above pictures show both the Early and Late styles. |

Re: 1935-36 Roadster Wind Wing Glass
Hopefully helping here, mercman's second pic of a '36 with the blue sticker is my Phaeton. I know the glass is not original and the bracket fitment never suited me. I put the 'bug' on myself so no guarantees about strict originality in this car in any way.

Re: 1935-36 Roadster Wind Wing Glass
To be accurate, the Bug was either sand blasted or etched on the glass.

Here's a drawing showing the bug location on either the early 35 or the 35-36 Wing glass.

Re: 1935-36 Roadster Wind Wing Glass
"Etching" is a generic term that includes sandblasting; if you want to be pedantic.

Re: 1935-36 Roadster Wind Wing Glass
Hi Everyone. Which makers made the glass, who were the F L and D under the oval?

Re: 1935-36 Roadster Wind Wing Glass
Jeff, Trying not to be Pedantic, but answering your question, The "F" meant made by Ford, The "L" made by Libby Owens, and the "D" made by Pittsburgh Plate Glass.
