Is the 1/2 ton pickup frame the same as the 1941 car frame? Thanks

Re: 41 pickup frame
no, but you can use a frame from 1935 to 40 cars, pick-ups are the same thru 1941

Re: 41 pickup frame
Well I'm not sure that I 100% agree....I'm probably wrong as usual....but my '41 1/2
ton sits on the frame it was born with and the front and rear cross members are close to 1 inch deeper than a '40 pass or p'up. My '41 1/2 ton is a late build but I've observed '41's in general do sit higher than '40s. What say ye Kube ? Charlie ny |

Re: 41 pickup frame
well charlie, went out and measured the frame under my late 1940 wagon and under my early 41 pick-up and they are the same, maybe you will post the measurements of your 41 frame. I do have a late 41 front crossmember (NOS) that is designed for the six cylinder engine and it is deeper to allow the 6 engine to cross over it

Re: 41 pickup frame
Thanks, I've got a 41 truck frame that is rusted thru. I think I will look for a truck or car frame. Thanks for the input.

Re: 41 pickup frame
Here is a little more input on the subject. While you can use a 35 - 40 car or pickup frame for your 41 pickup. There are differences in the earlier frames - it is not exactly an equal swap. I did this on my 41 pickup - I found a good earlier frame mine was of 37 or 38 vintage as it had the frame mount for the cross-steering box. However, this frame did not have the 40/41 style frame transmission mount, provisions for the hydraulic brake master cylinder, no front brake hose tabs, & s slightly different front cross member that had the motor sitting lower. I changed all of these as I had a frame to pull these parts from & I had to make several modifications to be able to mount these parts to retrofit the later parts into my earlier frame. In addition, I had to remove the outboard car body frame mounts (4) 2 per side. So it can be done - but it wasn't a simple bolt in.

Re: 41 pickup frame
My 41 pickup has the deeper front crossmember. I don't know about the rear as I have not compared it to a passenger car frame.

Re: 41 pickup frame
All the 41 pu frames had the deeper front crossmember, so the frame could take any of the engines offered that year. Other than the deeper crossmember, the frame is very similar, of not identical to the 40 car or pickup frame.

Re: 41 pickup frame
I noticed on my 41 pickup that the fuel outlet on the gas tank (original tank) comes out on the passenger side of the tank. it appears not to have been modified. I'm assuming that it came out on that side for the six cylinder motor which had the fuel pump on the passenger side. Anyone else have a tank like this in their '41?

Re: 41 pickup frame
mid year all the 41 frames had the deep front crossmember, so any engine could be put in, also note that this also occured on the large truck frames, also the hood latch system is different
