Ratting 1950 F1 body

[1950 F1]

When driving on Michigan's bad roads, I get a lot of body noise.
Shocks and springs are good. Should I expect this rattling noise, or is it possible I could do something to better secure the doors for example?

try putting a seal around the door, I used a rubber extrusion from Steel Rubber Products made for fiberglass cars and it stopped a lot of rattles and wind intrusion

A Ford dealer in the "50's used to say: "Used cars rattle; new cars squeak." Rattles often appeared after a few months on the washboard roads of the day, depending on how fast the vehicle was driven.

Wisconsin has followed the lead of Michigan and installed crappy roads everywhere. The best way to get rid of most body noise is to carry a couple hundred pounds of payload in the bed. Quiets everything down right nice.

no noise in my car they redid all the freeways where i live in calif. all new black top like driving on glass

i forgot to add i put all new door rubber seals doors fit tight and all the rest of the car new rubber seals

Aside from good rubber seals, you need to make sure the dovetail gets firmly seated when the door is closed. That prevents up-down movement of the door, which can also lead to the door popping open.

On my truck, most of the rattling is from inside the door, the window regulator and door latch pieces that are loose on their rivets. I'm figuring to wrap some of them in peel'n'stick to reduce the racket.

Add parking brake lever to the rattlers, and the tool box.

I'm shocked that anybody living in northern California has good roads. The only roads that get paved in this area are the roads to the wineries or to the expensive hotels.
