Default fly wheel filling

hello 2 questions
1. prior to removal i marked the relation of fw to crank but lost the mark-- i see 5 hash lines on the inside of fw---are these for aligmnent and if so do they indicate the top? i see no corresponding mark on crank end

2. there is a redrilled for pressure plate hole in fw which ran off and broke thru to the edge--i would like to fill this with weld and re-tap
a. is fw made of cast iron? i don't know how to use nickle rod- would it weld with 6013 rod?

b. if it is cast iron, is it braze able?

c. hole is not amenable to helicoil and i know braze is soft but better than nothing

thank you

Use a Helicole. I would not braze/weld on any flywheel. You do not want to set up any stresses in the metal with your heat.

The fw to crank can go 2 ways 180* apart. The fw is cast iron, don't use 6013 the weld can be so hard that you cant drill or tap it, this I know, don't try to braze, it would take to much heat. Find another fw! If you are determined to use this fw, use a milling machine with a 4 flute end mill to find original center, then drill & tap. You could tap this hole 3/8" 7/16"or 1/2", thread in a piece of all thread with jb weld, then drill & tap 5/16 fine

Don't bother filling the hole. If I were balancing the flywheel, the machine will pick-up on the 'light-side balance' of the flywheel and I would drill on the opposite side 180° to compensate.
