Default Oil change with external filter

Is there any consensus on how often to change the oil in a 1930 Model A using an external oil filter. Is it still every 500 miles or so regardless?

Thanks

How long does it take you to do 500 miles? When I'm doing a long tour, I leave oil changes to about 3,000 miles (Inserts and full flow filter). It takes me only a couple of weeks to do that mileage but if I were to do 1,000 miles in a year, I'd change.
Oil begins to degrade as soon as the motor is started and doesn't last forever, even with the best filter.

No scientific basis, I have been going 2000 miles on a babbitt motor with conventional oil with a filter. The oil is still cleaner in appearance than before the filter was added and 500 miles.

Full flow or by-pass filter?

It depends not just on the weight, but the brand of oil.

Are you driving only in warm weather? Summer in Alaska may still be cold to many of us.

The 1928 Ford Dealer Service Bulletins say to run S.A.E. viscosity number 40 oil in the summer, 20 in the winter.

With the additives in modern oil, I think it's more about time than miles because few of us put that many miles on the Model A per year. (There are exceptions.)

Good Morning...Oil is not expensive so I still change at 500 miles even with the Snyder's almost full flow filter. Additionally, one needs to lube each 500 miles as old grease or no grease is the enemy of the bearings and friction surfaces in our 'A's. I go to the local garage and she goes up on the alignment rack which does not twist her. It gives me a chance to wipe down the underside of the car and wipe off the extra grease on the 31 zerk fittings. Ernie in Arizona
