Default Connecting rear....

Having trouble lining up drive shaft splines and u joint splines. That is a right tight area. I thought I had it but noticed the bottom cover didn't want to seat nicely and gears would not shift so it is disconnected again. Didn't know if there were any tricks? Thanks!

Ok...I think I have it in. How much does the bell of the torque tube cover the inner cover? I'm seeing 50%....

I just look to see when they are closely cupped together. Be sure they are well greased before assembling.

A friends' Father used to make & sell CROOKEDY Pliers, to reach in & grasp the tail end of the "U" joint, to align it!---I "think" one of the suppliers sells it.

Some new U-Joints have been found to be defective, that is to say that the front and rear splined components are not in alignment with one another. Are you using a new joint at this point in time? I assembled the joint to the trans and then installed the half cap and the upper and lower clam shells and it was locked up. I then loosened the bolts and turned the output and joint - could see the loose components doing the Hula following the high spot on the misaligned joint. Snyder's replaced right away.
