Default Brakes and Reaction Time

Part of braking is how quickly you can react to an emergency.
Try this fun reaction time test.

Also reactions for less than half my age. Seems lots of us are scoring well. Gotta be concerned for those who do not drive a Model A.

Probably should put your keyboard on the floor and do the test with your foot.

good point haha then factor in the delay of foot pressing brake then brakes actually doing something.

Then have a beer or twelve and see what happens haha.

I tried it 4 times in a row when I got the email, and got better with each try. On the last try I also got the comment about being human. 606, 387, 332, and 107 milliseconds.

I tried it once more today and was back to 32 years old.

What Art said.

When I was in Driver's Ed (back in the last Century ), there was a "brake reaction time" tester in the classroom: There was an angled box on the floor, that had a gas pedal and a brake pedal on it. It was connected to a control panel that the instructor had.

We were to have our right foot on the gas pedal, as though driving, and when the instructor said "go!" ( or something like that ), we were to take our right foot off the gas and hit the brake pedal.

The control panel had a timer that would show the elapsed time between releasing the gas pedal and hitting the brake.

I do not remember my score, but it was an interesting exercise.
