Re: New Zealand Earthquake
Nelson Ok . main highways south blocked with slips , could be weeks before open & some may not , so we are cut off, no freight in or out, Ferries parked up temporary , lots of overseas folk in motor homes trapped in Kaikoura, even the whales there have left. A lot was rural , Thanks for concerns , Derek in wet Nelson

Re: New Zealand Earthquake
Thanks all. OK here in Lower Hutt which is 14km north of the Capital, Wellington which copped some damage. Had to head for higher ground at 2am in the morning but the tsunami warning was downgraded in a relatively short time. It was all a bit surreal with all the traffic heading out of town at that hour, something a bit like Godzilla, Day of the triffids or the Invasion of the Body Snatchers and other Sci Fi or disaster movies of that ilk. We Kiwis are pretty resiliant to these things as it is part of our geological makeup, a bit like our Californian friends that live on the San Andreas, but I have to admit with the last 2 big ones I am more apprehensive these days when these things happen.
