Default Value question

First off I am sorry if I posted this in the wrong spot.

I have a '37 60hp with a three speed transmission sitting in a project car. Motor runs strong, and the trans seems to be like new. I am thinking about going with a different motor and trans setup though.

I was wondering if anyone had any idea what the motor and trans might be worth? I believe I also have a spare water pump, with a rebuild kit, and a fan. Would sell it as a complete ready to drop in setup.

Thank you.

That stuff is a dime a dozen. I'll gladly take a road trip to Rapid City via Woonsocket and get it out of your way. But seriously, it's awful hard to price something without looking at it. I'll start this at $800 to $900 for a good running engine. $250 for the trans. So ask $1500 for the complete setup. and go from there.

I bid on grimy, stuck (but complete) V8-60 at a local auction a couple of years ago. I dropped out at $200. It went for $800 plus premium. This was just outside the twin cities metro area. You list your location as Rapid City; location may be a factor.

As to being "a dime a dozen", I have been looking for a sixty for a while now. This was the first one I have seen available in the last 5 years. Not worth much? Perhaps, but common, I don't think so.

The early '60s had the tin sides on the block. They are not as desirable as the later '60s that are the all cast iron block. Probably need to identify the block in order to price accordingly.

I think the issue might be a limited market. A buyer that is looking for a v60 and tranny would most likely be very interested and willing to pay a decent price, just not that many buyers.

A friend here bought one here at auction about ten years ago, that was an old well pump drive set up. Had tranny and clutch, engine turned free(we later started it). I think he got it for a little over $100.
He still has it, destined for a future belly tank project.
But I haven’t seen another one since.
