Default Wheel/Tire Fitment 51 Vicky

Does anyone know if a 16x6 wheel with 3.5” back space and a 205/70R16 tire fit in the front & rear wheel-wells of a 51 Vicky without rubbing?

A 16X6 would be too wide in my opinion depending on the offset.

I can't answer your question, but I know my 1951 Ford business coupe had 16"wheels.

I don't have any more Fords from the 50's, but my last was a 58 and had a devil of a time changing rear tires anything more than 5 inch wide and 0 offset. They would be so close to the A arm also. Best if you could find salvage yard rim and tire to experiment with and do some measuring. Late Crown Victoria's had 16X6 but odd offset, you could cut the center out and reposition to your desired offset and see if it would work. If you are just looking at a set of wheels don't forget there is hub centric and lug centric.

Are you still interested in the measurements of the stock wheels and the later ones I have on the rear? Since you are looking at 16's, the measurements of the stock 15's may not apply, or even be misleading. I believe that you now have aftermarket wheels on your car, as there appear to be no hubcap "bumps".

Let me know if you still want the measurements.

From the shop manual, stock 49-51 passenger car wheels are 15x5 or 16x4.5 with 0.62" offset. Stock tires are 600x16, 670x15, and 710x15 (wagons). Ken

These are 670x15 on what I believe to be stock wheels...

Thanks, Ken; that saves me a lot of crawling around with a ruler. Look in the manual? Duh! Why didn't I think of that? A positive offset of .62 gives a backspacing of 3.12".

It looks like the OP will still have to do some careful measuring and/or trial and error fitting.

Thanks, there’s definitely not much room in these ShoeBox Ford’s wheel wells
