Default 1936 Horn Rod Question

Can anyone shed a little light and educate me on 36 horn rods. I have seen some that are made of DIECAST and some that are PLASTIC. Could one be 1935 and the other 1936 or just a change in material from Ford. I just purchased one and have now discovered that its DIECAST. Will either type be correct for a 1936 Ford?
Thank you for any help.

Hi Everyone, modela4shane, your question is a little confusing, care to post a photo of the part you are asking about?

I think you'll find the die cast ones are painted black and used in std models. The plastic ones are a brownish color and used in deluxe models. Both 35 and 36.

Thank you for the clarification Brian! I am guessing if i painted the DIECAST one to match my deluxe banjo steering wheel it would make it a deluxe. All the PLASTIC one's i find seem to be fragile and have cracks, so a std. diecast with correct color seem's to me to be the best? What do you guys think, or is there a distinct difference? Thank you for all the help!

I have never seen a 'DIE CAST" HORN ROD, NOR A PLASTIC ONE, on a 35 or 36 Ford. Are you sure you are using the correct nomenclature?

Why would you want to paint a horn rod??? It is not visible unless you have it out of the steering tube.

Lawson, he means the bit at the top; the horn button and light switch operating disc.

I've seen many 35-36 light switch/horn button & rod assemblies with a plastic light actuator disc molded over a diecast part that secures the rod. Have never seen an all die cast actuator disc. Here are pictures of some of the 35-36 light switch/horn button & rod assemblies that I have. I would really like to see some pictures of the all die cast discs. Please post them here.

I'm with JM 35 Sedan... I've never seen one that is entirely diecast. I would like to see a picture.

Here is a Ford Archive drawing showing the horn rod. It had cast aluminum or zinc frame with soybean or phenolic material moulded around it.
