Default installing new tie rod and ends help

I'm installing a new tie rod and ends on my Model A. I'm using the teflon buttons and spring hardware kit. Is there a trick to getting the tie rod ends to "snap" over the metal ball on the steering linkage? I've never done this before so I'm in virgin territory with the tie rod installation.

I don't 'snap' them in place, don't think there is enough room for that. I assemble them in place in order with everything else.

Just screw the plug out until only about three threads remain-just enough to keep the plug in. The line up the tie-rod end over the ball and with a hammer tap it over until it seats. You may have to be a little more persuasive since they are new caps. Then just tighten the pug down until it is flush, cotter pin and you are good.

I tried that Mike but the new springs are REALLY stiff and it just won't budge and I don't want to damage the ends. Maybe if I put the springs in my vice and collapse them a little and leave them there for awhile it will help.

Hhmm. That is what I did. I did not want to try putting them together then adding the plug as I don't think it would work. Like you said the spring is very stiff. That and trying to collapse the spring while the car is on stands, you may push the car off. That would be bad.
