I am trying to figure out the various shades of maroon. I don't want the real dark shades as it may show up blackish.... I have looked at images of cars on the web and it is very hard to go by them. Which is the lightest maroon??

Ford Maroon
or
Mulberry Maroon

The 1932 Maroon is nicer looking than the Model "A" Ford Maroon.

I recently had my 31 Std. Roadster (Canadian built) painted. I had 2 cowls, both Canadian and both with original "Maroon" paint on them. The paint was quite good under fasteners, wiring junction box etc. Shur-fit Auto Parts (Canada) was able to come up with an original Canadian Ford "Deep Red" used for several years from 1928 into the mid 30's. It looked like a very close match so I went ahead with it. I couldn't be more pleased with the result. It is a rich color but has lots of life and to me contrasts very well with the black fenders, etc. It is a PPG paint and the brand code is 51017 if that helps. If you need more info, let me know.

You have to keep in kind that different light sources and degrees of light will dramatically change the color.
