Oil in light switch!
Oil in my light switch! Need directions to install new steering end plate with tube that is supposed to stop this! Steering is still in my A! How difficult is this job?
I just replaced the switch contact upper half of the switch. Not difficult but took some effort getting the spring clip back on. All ideas are welcomed! Jim G. |

Re: Oil in light switch!
Sorry, James, but I've never done one of those. Our Guru, Claude, (RIP), always said, "A little oil in the switch makes it work nicely"! And he was NOT tryin' to make "humor"!

Re: Oil in light switch!
Easy job, get the part and it is almost self evident on what you will do.

Re: Oil in light switch!
Does anyone make specific replacement parts such as the spring or the fiber board (not sure what the name is) for the inside of the light switch body so that you can replace those parts and not have to buy a complete repo or used original light switch?
I have one switch that the internal parts were either rusted or that fiber board was so oil-soaked that it came apart in pieces. It would be nice to be able to rebuild it with the correct parts available. |

Re: Oil in light switch!
nobody makes that rotating ring independently from whoever is making the entire repro switch. that part is apparently the source of difficulties with the repros, some guys have said the little bumps don't align precisely with the depressions on the wiring harness plate.
send me a pm about this subject..... |

I replaced the felt washer in the bottom of the box with a washer designed to seal the spindle of an old-style water tap. Still leak free after twelve months. |
