A thing of beauty...Tailgate letters
Again, the more people I meet along the way on this restoration ride my 39 pick up is giving me makes it all worth it.
Keith over in Windham @ Moonshine signs is another great example. Pictured is my raised lettering painted, my wife suggested the red 8 that breaks it up nicely. Moonshine signs 207-892-6831 by appointment. Last edited by 39portlander; 04-15-2018 at 06:05 PM. |

Very nice, the red 8 does make it "pop"!

Golly gee... back in school, when I should have been paying attention, I used to doodle that script. Y'all know though, Henry paid an illustrator to work it up.

Re: A thing of beauty...Tailgate letters
Sometimes folks use "restoration" to imply "bringing back to life" and its not always about making it 100% original to what Henry's factory did.

Re: A thing of beauty...Tailgate letters
No painted lettering on the gates from the factory but I do like it! A ton of people paint the logo on their restored trucks and I do not mind it at all.

Re: A thing of beauty...Tailgate letters
Painting the logo is a "no-no" for judging, but mandatory for those of us who have "resurrected" our trucks and want there to be no confusion about who made them....

That is very very nice, she had a great idea, that red 8 does make it stand out.

Re: A thing of beauty...Tailgate letters
The Tailgate on your 1939 Ford pickup sure looks good. Old Henry would be proud of your efforts. You have done a fantastic job of it. If the Tailgate looks this good, would love to see pictures of the whole truck? |

Re: A thing of beauty...Tailgate letters
I like the other tailgate pictures. The white Ford logo looks great but on the Folkstone grey black looked better.
Thanks for the input guys, Keith did a great job on the lettering and will let him know. As I have said before, I'm just managing a lot of tasks by others as I resurrect this truck back together. Scott |
