Head Gasket coating
I know that the new "modern" gasket has the silicon around the water passages and they say don't use any coating.
For copper clad gaskets I use Copper Coat on both surfaces. Now the question, what to use on the Best Gasket? Copper coat, grease, aluminum paint, nothing or it doesn't make any difference. It is a plain composition gasket with fire rings. |

From the BEST web page, "Install GraphTite™ head gaskets using using a spray-on sealant like K & W Copper Coat or Permatex Copper Spray-A-Gasket. Always re-torque". Ron W

I sprayed the Best gasket with copper coat on both sides and installed. It has not leaked a single drop of fluid and has performed perfectly. I would not used anything else. I should add that I drive my "A" fairly hard and it runs between 180 and 200 degress F. |
