Default Cam Button Question.

I've mocked up my early style dizzy on my late engine with the cam button installed. With both the cam and dizzy engaged in the button the dizzy sits about 1/8" proud of the timing cover.

I've noticed the button has about 1/4-3/8" deep slot with the dizzy tang being only around 1/8" deep.

Does the button have to be ground down to obtain the correct fit?

Thanks.

The picture is out of a Ford shop manual. How does the button you have compare?
