Default Steering Sector. Rebuild?

I noticed that you can get replacement roller kits for the '37-'40 steering sectors.
Are these worth the effort or is it better to change out the whole sector for a new one?

Thanks

The roller kit is a repro part...likely Richard EV8 can tell you if the new ones are any good.
A complete sector would I hope be NOS and will do the job for sure. Same on worm gears...a loose gear will be repro, one on the shaft Ford.

Macs also sell complete sectors. I assume repro as well. The rebuild kits are alot cheaper and you get to keep half the original part.

another consideration is the condition of the bearing surface of sector shaft itself, if it`s worn just a few thousandths it`s going to effect the end product. i would try and find a N.O.S. sector. jmho

Anyone know for sure if complete sectors are reproduced for '37 up? And of course whether they are any good...
Loose worm gears not on a shaft and roller kits are necessarily repro.
The Argentine repro gears have had a BAD reputation for a long time, but I believe Richard has posted that usable ones are now available for at least the early boxes.

Yes, but are they Ford or Argentine or what, and if repro...are they good?
Macs is one of those big places that still has some NOS steering parts.

The 36 sectors that were used with the needle bearings were carburized. That made them very hard in order to withstand the high contact stresses generated by the narrow contact of the needle bearings. You should not attempt to use a standard shaft with needle bearings.
