Default 2 tooth steering box

I have a 1930 fordor town sedan with a 2 tooth steering box...
My question is how much 600 wt oil do you put into the steering box?
Do you fill the gear box up to the bottom of the fill hole?
Thanks ahead of time...

Yes, to the bottom of the fill hole.

I had a new 2 tooth steering box installed in my 1930 fordor... Rebuilt from Snyders...

I filled it up to the bottom the the oil fill hole and the box leaked heavily.. Not out the bottom, but thru the ecentric hex nut on the side of the steering box...

After having the box removed from the car again and taken apart, they found nothing wrong, and Snyders then said that the steering box should not be filled to the bottom of the fill hole, but rather only about half full... you should use a flashlight to look down the oil hole to see the how much is in there... My previous steering box never leaked at all, when filled... I am puzzled why this one did leak...

Anyone have any thoughts?

Have you read your owners instruction book----lubricating the steering gear--every 2000 miles remove plug and fill till it reaches the level of the filler plug hole---this is how I have mine, since I made a tube for the bottom plate it stays near full ----

Speaking of steering box oil leaks, Minervas' headlights would sometimes fail. One guy sez, "You're probably leaking oil into the headlight switch"---His buddy sez, "A little oil in the switch keeps them working good.---CAN'T WIN!

I'm glad you mentioned that. I installed a newly rebuilt 2 tooth steering column last year and I was filling it up to the bottom of the fill hole. And it leaked from the eccentric hex nut. Now I keep the level high enough to cover the gears. Things now are leak free and it Steers fine hopefully I'm doing the right thing.

Fill the steering box with a synthetic grease first, then add a small amount of synthetic hypoid gear oil. The grease will seal the gearbox and sector shaft.

Brother Bob,
Minerva came with a clear grease, apparently pumped in from the lower fitting, but it didn't cover the worm well. I filled it with Valvoline Multi-Weight Synthetic Gear Oil & within 2 weeks, she steered SO MUCH EASIER

Penrite makes a 1200 W Steering Box Lube made especially for steering boxes. It will completely stop or greatly reduce the lube leaking from the steering box. It is very thick but will still flow and keep the worm and bearings covered.

I buy it from Restoration Supply in Escondido, Ca.

The 2 tooth steering box is supposed to take 4.5 ounces or 133ml. This info is from the Les Andrews repair manual.Restoration Supply Company sells Pennrite 1200 wt in a 500ml bottle.

For reference, a can of Coke is 355ml, so the steering box doesn't take much at all.
