Rubber protection against suns radiation
Hi,
In terms of rubber window seals that are exposed to the suns UV radiation. Is there a way to do a long term protection of installed and exposed rubber seals? Currently I have some rubber seals that are 40 years old and I would like them to last another 40 years without them cracking and deteriorating. Imagine the harsh sun in Arizona or the Southwest. Is there a product I can smear on the seals that does not require multiple applications each year? A truly long lasting product. Lucas |

The best protection is to keep it out of the sun. Invest in a cover.

I use 303 Protectant. I couldn't tell you how long it works. I use it on my top and running boards to hopefully prolong their life.

Re: Rubber protection against suns radiation
Years ago there was a product used to protect rubber seals etc. I checked and it is still being manufactured in the states by American Grease, Ru Glyde is the product name. It is mainly used when installing tires, as bead lube . Price is approx,$20 a gallon . Google this and find an auto store near you.

My wife's Corvette, they use dilectric grease on the window seals. Especially the rear hatch window.
