Reproduction splash shield quality

Hello, did a search on repro fenders and splash shields and found the lengthy post from 2012 that list the modifications needed to fit them. Has the quality of them improved any? The reason I ask is because I am re restoration a 31 Roadster that appears to have repro fenders and shields on it , lots of filler on shields .As stripping them will cost almost as new reproduction shields, trying to find out if be better to replace them or just rework what I have.Thank you for your input.
