Default Door pops open

I have a bad 5 cent latch spring but corrected the issue by driving a 14X3 self tapping sheet metal screw through the door into the post..
I figured this would be more secure than using a bungee cord..

Mitch, That sound mighty like a farmer fix! You know we don't allow them here!

Mitch,
A few years ago I talked with a guy who bought a Model A closed cab pickup. He had it flat bedded to his house. The first time he sat in it, he found the steering wheel was to big for his gut. He said he got out his hack saw and cut the bottom half of the wheel off. I asked him how the truck went around corners. About a week later he bought a reproduction steering wheel.

Nice, my Tudor's passenger side door closes rock solid... my drivers door less so. I noticed the lower rubber catch needed a bit of adjustment...Not perfect but neither door have slung open.

Let the wife hold the door closed, just don't make a sharp left hand turn, or maybe so.

Mitch,
you put this under the wrong heading

should have been on Terry's thread, how to farmer fix it and agree- I would have stayed with the bungee, which has more "give"!

I'd think a ratchet strap would be the best option. More secure than a bungee and easy to open and close.

Not a door story but along the same lines years ago me and my friend George were on our way up to his hunting camp in his beat up old chevy pickup. I heard all this racket coming from the back end and said "George I think we got a recap coming off or a flat tire" He reached over and turned the radio up. Needless to say we didn't get to far till we had to put the spare recap tire on.

Driver's door (RHS) kept coming open on my 1930 CCPU - same doors and catch as a Tudor, coupe etc. I found that the door fitting was hitting the door post too low to engage properly. Out with the angle grinder and cut about 5 mm off the bottom of the catch and spaced the fitting on the door post out about 5 mm also. End of problem.

I think it should be said that Mitch is having a little fun with us! To begin with, Mitch has two Tudors, both of which he "refuses" to disclose what his restoration costs were. I have personally seen both and they are beautifully done with no expense spared! Mitch is in the trade and I'm sure get discounts that aren't available to most of us. But I am not jealous. Here I am, living on SS and a small pension, eking out a living, paying my taxes, Paying retail for everything. And supplimenting my meagre subsistence with sales of scrap metal and surplus firewood, Hoping the price of dog food doesn't go up to much. The Doctor says I'm losing weight now. All the while I'm still buying a few parts at a time to try to fix these cars up, a dollar here, fifty cents there all saved up so I can get my next order in. Sigh...
When I posted that thread "Cheap Fixes". I was hoping to have more of good quality DIY parts manufacture. I can't be the only one who produced their own wood. I doubt if I'm the only one who made their own seat springs, etc. I really wasn't looking for farmer fixes
