I recently puta S 10 five speed in my 1936 ford. Does anyone know a person or place to convert my 36 speedometer to work with my 5 speed tranny.

Does your tranny have mechanical speedo drive or electric. In my '36, it was just getting the right length speedo cable, no mods necessary with mechanical drive.

Throw a speedo cable between the two. It will probably work as is. They should both take the square cable end. At the bottom of the speedometer face, look for the numbers 940, 960, 1000, or 1020.

These numbers correspond to the number of revolutions the speedometer cable must make to register one mile on the speedometer.
Most older speedometers are 1000. DD

I put a 1985 S10 5 speed behind my flathead using an adapter kit from Cornhusker's. It was a plug and play set up. Speedo gears are available from many vendors if needed.

If you have an electric speedometer on the tranny, there are at least one adapter that could be used. One I found 10 yrs ago was Cable X. Not cheap.http://www.abbott-tach.com/cablex.htm I ended up using a gps speedo. Another one https://www.speedhut.com/ecommerce/p...peed-Converter

I just cheked their prices. "Not cheap" is an understatement.

The electronic speedo T5's typically go for less money so it may not be so bad in the end.

$365 doesn't seems that bad compared to other modifications that would be required. It is near free if you have the correct T5 tail piece, but if you have to buy one they are getting pricy. You can also modify the later models, but a big of a chore.
