Default 34’ Oil Pan Drain - Simple Removal??

The drain plug on my 1934 Ford is 3/4-24 X 5/8. Is there an easier way to remove this plug when draining the oil? I’m using channel locks but it’s hard to get a grip on it for removal. What do you guys use?

I’ve though about using a drain ball valve for simpler way on draining without having to break out the channel locks.

Thanks, Derek

a channel lock would be the last tool i would use for that! if its square, a 12 point socket two sizes bigger fits, or of coarse a square socket would be better. if its all rounded and wrecked file it to make something fit and then throw it away and get a good one
