If it's not the resistor, I guess the only other problem might be the coil dragging it down...if they can do that. The script coil has likely never been rebuilt so it could be due. Will need to build some trust in the car before I travel to a meet another state away. I'll trailer it until then. I'll be gone for 3 weeks starting july 2nd so I think I'll miss that meet but will try to make it to others.
Kerk, I would not leave my driveway without having a Skip Haney rewound coil on my car. I am using a stock helmet type distributor on my '35 fordor. I also carry an extra rewound coil in my spare parts. The insulation used on the windings in these coils, 70 to 80 years ago, is definitely inferior to the modern wire insulations used today. These old original coils may work fine when you initially start up and drive off, but as they heat up, turns in the coil may start to short due to internal expansion and leave you sitting on the side of the road until they cool down. Some folks mistake this for vapor lock.
If you can't make the Brainerd, Minnesota meet this year, please consider coming to our RG's Gettysberg meet in August, 2016. I would love to see that car!!

Capt Kirk, You might also consider the Motorfest 6 gathering in Auburn, IN taking place Aug. 27th -29th. Will be a nice "laid back" meet. No judging involved...just visiting with like-minded folks with some nice flatheads. It would be a great time to spend some time at the Early Ford V-8 Foundation Museum in Auburn. There are also many other car related museums in Auburn as well.

Here is a link to the Early Ford V-8 Foundation website: www.fordv8foundation.org

You can also find the Motorfest 6 information and registration forms there.

Good luck to you and your fine '35 Cabby!

Those "bullet" lights on the fenders look like the same as on my mates 37 Buick.

Graeme. I don't know what those bullet lights were off of but could absolutely identify one if I saw it. They fit perfectly on top of those fenders.
