Heck, I put Buick drums on my '40 coupe using '70 - '77 Camaro disc brake hubs separated from the rotors, mainly because I wanted to run the Chevy bolt pattern. Click the link BELOW for a comprehensive look at how, and WHY this was all done, including umpteen dozen pictures showing virtually every step of the machining process.

Just so that you know, these are mounted on stock 1940 Ford spindles utilizing only the spacers/adapters to put discs on stock Ford spindles, sold by all of the normal suppliers.

I've done quite a few of these over the years first with 46-48 hubs and recently with the Pete & Jake's hubs. Either way works good.

I have only used the 46-48 hubs. They position the drums so the shoes are in the right place. They also have wide flanges so the wheels are supported if using Ford 5 1/2 pattern. The Buick drum mounting surface is not wide enough to do so.
The drum needs to carefully be centered when cutting the center. You will not need to re-balance if done right.
Do not cut any of the iron liner. Just relieve the alum.

There are a couple styles of the '46-'48 outside flange hubs. I prefer the one that is totally flat on the drum side as I drill and tap the bolt pattern in the hub and use 1/2-20 gr8 tap bolts for studs.
