Vintage sounding 12V horn
Looking for a 12v vintage sounding horn. Not the Aoogha horn that everyone advertises, but a rich sounding real horn like what would have come on a 1936 Ford.
1. Anyone bought one that they would recommend? 2. Where/from whom did you buy it? 3. Do you have a sound clip, that would also help, as when shopping, there is no way to sample what a horn sounds like. looking to replace an import sounding beep beep horn with something more authentic and authoritative. Thanks |

I don't know what a 1936 Ford horn sounds like...but what about one of these?

Re: Vintage sounding 12V horn
Try to find an old 12V pancake Spartan horn. I think they sound pretty good.

Re: Vintage sounding 12V horn
The Lucas Altette horn sounds kinda wimpy and too tinny (high pitched). For me, a deeper tone would be better. A pair of horns from a modern truck or van would be better.

Re: Vintage sounding 12V horn
To me the 36 doesn't sound all that good and hard to tune them. The sounds like an old VW bug. I swapped mine for early 60s Thunderbird 12V horns. They will put some pep in your step.
