Default 37 muffler

I recently removed the rusted muffler from my 1937 club cab. I'm not sure if the muffler is correct for the car. Does anyone have the specs. of the original muffler? I'm mainly interested in overall length and the orientation of the ports. Thanks, Ernie

You should get the 1937 Ford book from the Early Ford V8 Club. It will have all the details about the car in the book. Someone will chime in about the correct mufler. I believe it should be a domed end muffler. The inlet and outlet are 1 1/4 inch, if I remember correctly.

Walker is a good resource for exhaust parts. I found the Walker P/N for the muffler that fit my '46 Coupe, and got one from the NAPA dealer. Something that I learned for my auto shop teacher many years ago, was to drill a 1/8" hole at the lowest point of each end of the muffler. That allows any moisture to drain off to help reduce the internal corrosion.

I'm going to assume the muffer is the same as the 1940 muffler. I can measure the overall length of that muffler for you.

If you are not concerned about originality, Michael at 3rd Gen Automotive has a replacement muffler for a 1937. I got one from him in August.
