Default 1937 pickup body parts?

I'm getting closer to finishing my chassis and I was wondering what body parts from other years may interchange for my 37 pickup. I have most of the body besides the bed and rear fenders.

If I can find something in better shape than mine it would be nice as I have never done body work before.

What about the big trucks?

For the bed you could get away with a 35 or 36 but you should stay with 37 because its a few inches longer. You can spot the difference on the left side where the filler neck goes. On 37 its sort of centered in the rear side panel, on 35 and 36 the corner is much closer to it.

I think the rear fenders are the same. I was lucky to find some nice steel ones for my truck, but they have gotten very pricey. Might want to grab a pair of fiberglass while you are searching for good steel, then you could always re-sell the 'glass ones later.

Big truck stuff is all different

Re: interchange to 1937 Pickup

Inner front fenders: 1937 1/2 ton only.

Front fenders: 1/2 ton only, 1936-37. (1935 fits except has hole for bumper iron, 1936-37 has slot. Steel fenders without bumper hole/slot are likely 1935-37 1-1/2 ton.)

Grille/hood/cowl top/cab front above windshield: 1937 only 1/2 ton and 1-1/2 ton the same.

Cowl vent/windshield: 1937-39 Pickup/Truck/Passenger the same, except minor details on windshield frame, regulator handle (1937 only) and regulator mechanism (1937-38)

Seat/seat platform: 1935-37 1/2 ton only, May be the same through 1941. (1-1/2 ton has fuel tank under seat).

Cab subframe/under seat pan: 1935-37 1/2 ton and 1-1/2 ton with some carryover at least into 1938. (Most or all 1939 used the 1940 sill design, I do not know exactly when the change happened. 1-1/2 ton do not use under seat pans)

Cab to frame blocks/mounting bolts: 1935-37 1/2 ton only.

Inside door and window handles: 1935-37 Pickup/Truck, 1933-34 Coupe/Sedan

Outside door handles: 1936 Deluxe Passenger

Doors: 1/2 ton and 1-1/2 ton the same. Some early 1935 had garnish moldings. Sometime in 1936 the window felt design changed to have felt all around the window opening, 1935 had bumpers at bottom of opening. All other door parts the same and any door will fit any cab (unless bent).

Year specific dash knob and instrument differences.

Most other cab panels the same 1935-37.

Bed front panel, stake pockets, rear crossmember, running boards, running board aprons the same 1935-37.

Bed sides, subframe, tailgate, and tailgate hinges 1937 only.

Rear fenders are 1937 only, there is a difference on the inside front (that cannot be seen from the truck exterior) having to deal with different clearance for the cable brakes. Otherwise 1935-36 will fit.

Re: rear fenders
Karl is right, 35-36 have brake rods, 37 has cables.
I am using a 37 bed on a 38 chassis. I didn't know about the difference in the rear fenders so I will need to modify my '36 rear fenders to clear the cables.

I too am looking for "option parts" for my 1937 ford 1/2 ton. It is closing in on being complete. I would like to use the bumpers off the 1936 as the front has the drop in the center that kind of helps in keeping the bottom of the grill and various curbs from being friends. My question is, will the 1936 1/2 ton bumper brackets mount to the 1937 to support the bumpers or will I have to build custom mounting brackets? Any help would be great.

Karl...I do not believe the 35/6 and 37 pickup under seat pans are the same. They probably interchange, but the "grooves" on the pans are not the same in terms of number, with the 37 having more.

I am trying to mount my 37 pickup bed to the frame. It came off the truck so I do not know how the blocks fit to the chassis or if I have a missing part. Does anyone have a picture of the lash up at the rear of the bed? Would appreciate any help.

Scott h The 38 chassis is the same as 37 as they both had the cable brakes. even some 39 chassis had the bulge in the outer rail for the cable to come through but the inner rail was blanked off, probably using up stock as they went.
