"So a local French company converted the Model AA into a pretty big truck in changing the frame, making it longer and heavier, and adding a third axle with a boggie system. To make it steer lighter and with less wear on the tires, the suspension was adapted so that the rear axle could move slightly when turning."

My guess is that it was used during WWII. That looks like a wood gassifier on the port rail.
