Re: ... Unbelievable ...
This was not the real deal 67GT500. Way too many things wrong with it to be real. People are saying it was a inside job but who knows.

Difference between a $30k car and a $300k car.

Re: ... Unbelievable ...
Mine had a SHELBY - LA PATENT PLATE. It was MD tagged when I bought it. The MD MVA didn't believe my paper work and made me walk out and get a stencil of the plate.

Maybe a little easier to modify than I thought - https://johnsmustang.com/products/19...25080460279872 That's another thing that gripes me, having a repro PATENT PLATE made and not using the correct ASSEMBLY DETAILS. As long as the VIN is correct, it is done frequently. How many modified cars are out there? |

Re: ... Unbelievable ...
One good thing about real deal Shelby's they are well documented with a registry. Easy to see if one is fake or not. If it is a clone call it one and dont try to fool people. There was one at a local show that had all the parts for a Cobra Jet race car. Problem is it had a VIN and Ford factory race Cobra Jets never came with a VIN number. Still swore up and down if was the real deal. Oh Well..

Re: ... Unbelievable ...
It's fake, but they did a nice job on the fender flares on this thing. With this one you could take it out and flog the heck out of it and not have to worry about de-valuing a real one

Re: ... Unbelievable ...
Although I'm inclined to think it's fake, because of the flares and Minilite-look wheels, how do you know for certain that it is, simply by looking at the photo?

Re: ... Unbelievable ...
You would go by the title (No Salvage Title - If So Attempt Title Search) and/or either the FORD and/or SHELBY PATENT PLATE and possibly build sheet. You would also verify a buck tag (if it is still there) and BODY VIN STAMPINGS.

Re: ... Unbelievable ...
I don't know. The flares were most likely done to fit larger rubber and the wheels larger than the OEM 15".
I could see it but not on an original SHELBY as it would ruin the value. |

Re: ... Unbelievable ...
30 years ago there was a black real 67 up here with those same fender flares, Car sat very low, had NO door handles (were removed). Most of the car was gone, engine, trans, interior, steering wheel, most all Shelby parts really. But it was a driver. It was a real car with the Shelby vin on it, which I have wrote down somewhere. It is in the registry.
I can't tell from the angle of the pics if there was a tag on the inner fender, its not there from what I can see. Is the vin on this car mentioned anywhere? |
