I have an original Stant side view mirror for a 30 Deluxe Roadster. The thing needs to be replated, and the plater won't touch it unless I can figure out how to get the glass out and then back in again later. We suspect this part was originally plated and then Stant had some kind of tool or die that could curl the lip around the edge of the bevelled glass mirror without destroying the plating.

How have you guys restored these? I know it is easy to buy a repo side mirror (A&L makes a very nice copy of the Trico version), but mine does look a bit different, and I would like to restore this original one if possible.
