Master cylinder to brake line adapter
I have a Early 70s master cylinder that I need adapters for 1/4 inch inverted flare brake lines.
Anyone have the part numbers handy that i can go off of?

What is the existing thread in your 70's master cylinder?

Re: Master cylinder to brake line adapter
I think it’s a 1/2–20 & female rev flare 1/4” line

Did you try your local parts store? Most have the correct adapters.

Check with a dealer for which ever brand the master is used on. Doubt if you will get a part # here.

Re: Master cylinder to brake line adapter
In case someone else is looking, the correct call out is:
1/2-20 x3/8-24 inverted flare (1/4 tube) brake line adapter. There are two different sizes the larger adapter is 9/16-18 x 3/8-24 inverted flare

Re: Master cylinder to brake line adapter
You stated in your first post you want 1/4" pipes. The fittings you have listed seem to be quoting a 3/8-24 thread which is for a 3/16" pipe.
Dual masters I have had have had a 1/12" and a 9/16" thread fitting. Look up the fittings below. I found them at Rockauto. |

Re: Master cylinder to brake line adapter
Something to watch out for when using those adapters; couple times I found that the adapter contacted the body of the master cylinder instead of seating on the brass insert. Faced off the body a bit so it seated.
I usually use the "oversize" tube nuts instead of the adapters when I can. |
