Universal ignition switch
I'm using a universal ignition switch in my 1927 Model T. How do I hook up the magneto to the switch. Would it connect to the run or start post on the switch?

Re: Universal ignition switch
Does the key stay in the start position or does it automatically go back to run when you released the key, momentary switch? If it stays in start I would wire it so you turn it all the way to start to run on battery then turn back to run for magneto. As long a battery voltage is isolated from the run post you should be ok. Check your your meter. In any case you do not what a long pause between switching between the two, boom goes your muffler if not fast.

Re: Universal ignition switch
Thanks for the info. It stays in position so I can run Magneto on the new switch.

I just thought of something. You might have to wire the hot lead for battery to start terminal, the magneto lead to the run terminal and the main terminal would go the the coil box. I would check the switch with a meter to make sure just what terminals are doing what.
