Default Confirming Weber Part # for aluminum flywheel

I need to confirm the application for a Weber aluminum flywheel.

Part # 563301. I believe this is for a 59AB series motor.

Can anyone confirm this?

Is Weber still in business?

Thanks.

Tim

Harry Weber died in December 1997 and Weber Cams went out of business in '98. Weber also manufactured clutches in addition to his aluminum 'wheels but those businesses had been sold off to another party 20 years earlier.

Tim, I'm in the prossise of buildin a 276 (I don't know what I'm going to do with it) I was digging around in my stuff. (he who dies with the most stuff wins) I found a Webber aluminum wheel I forgot about. I just went out in my shop and looked for a part no. on it, couldn't find any. It has a steel insert for the clutch, it's drilled for a 9in. and 10in. clutch. It's 59AB one, I remember the engine it came off. BUT, you can tell by the ring gear. the 59AB gear is 7/8 wide, the 8BA gear is alot narrower, like 5/8 or narrower. Walt

Hi Walt:

Thanks for the reply. The guy I got it from also had a brand new 10" Weber clutch and pressure plate. I think I got the entire package for $300. Not sure if I'm going to use the clutch/pressure plate set up for it seems super heavy duty.

What are the recommendations for using an aluminum flywheel, for street use?
Always thought it was better to use the original heavy flywheel.

Hi Tim, You got a good bye. The 10in. is a little heaver than the 9in. but it depends on what your going to use in. If it's just a street car and the 10in is in good shape I'd use it, you wouldn't notice the differance between the two. Walt

Yeah, going into my '28 AV8 w/ a 276. Shouldn't have any issues holding it back.

Go for it Tim, no use spending another 150.00 for a 9in. setup. You've already got a 10in. with a 12# wheel. To me a 276 is a perfect street engine. Walt

Oh, yeah. I forgot about that part in his book. It's on the shelf. I'll take a peek. I think I've confirmed it's a 59AB wheel.

I facilitate the measurement by using 3 1" high sockets to hold the wheel off the table... I find 1 to be remarkably easy on my battered math brain cells...
