OLDGOLD360

Can you answer any of these:

THREE QUESTIONS:

1) Can you tell me whether I am able to use the felt strips with the rubber bumper pieces for the oblong holes?

2) Do I need both the SLANTED rubber garnish bumpers & the rounded ones?

3) It says, the slanted bumpers need to be attached to the garnish, and the rounded bumpers need to be attached to the doors. What is the garnish? Do I need to purchase these? If so, do you know the part number?

Thanks Shane

Hi Shane. I will help out however I can but I have yet to install the glass on my pickup and hoping to use the felt over the rubber pieces. Others on this forum can provide more insight as to what goes where. You can use felt strips on your later door and the rubber pieces on your earlier door as long as that difference doesn’t bug you. Most will not notice but if you plan to show your pickup, a judge might. Another difference that may be more noticeable is how the interior panel is attached across the top of the door. There are several varieties in attachment including a different number of holes for the retaining clips, or you’ll have a channel that secures the top of the door panel. One of my doors has the holes while the later door has the channel. This is much easier to address than the window guide felt issue you’re facing. The garnish refers to the interior side of the door, generally a removable trim piece in most vehicles. Early ‘35 pickup doors had a removable garnish molding, which later changed to the non-removable garnish with built in door pull in the center of the bottom edge. I still think a good automotive adhesive could be a remedy for your problem, such as a 3M weatherstrip adhesive, but please ask the advice of others before taking my advice.

Can someone else clarify the placement and direction of the rubber door glass bumpers?

I used double-sided tape on mine. It's been on there many years.

Thank you BOTH for the advice. I will definitely use the 3M adhesive/tape and use the felt to match the other side. I believe that's the best solution for me.

Thanks
Shane

Shane, let us know how it works out. Maybe I’ll save myself the hassle and do the same.

Try to call Lance Morris for your glass. Not sure he goes to Dallas.
