Angry Light rod problem

Installed a new Horn/Light rod in steering column. Now the rod will not turn left or right to turn on lights, what did I do wrong. Did install new light rod bushing.

It looks as though the bail arm is too tight, pulling the switch harder into the switch contacts. Try a slight rebend of the wire to make it not so tight, or a little lube. If this fails, look at the way the spider connects to the switch. The 2 must go together with the spider fingers vertical.

First, I would make sure that the rod turns freely with no switch installed. If so, then I would assemble the switch and check it for smooth operation using a small screw driver to turn it.

Maybe you installed a reproduction light rod?

Did you install the right size light rod?...I think there were 4-5 different lengths.

If the bail wire is too tight to slip over the switch you can lengthen it a bit by placing the "S" curve in the jaws of a vice so it is parallel to the top of the jaws and tighten the vice, this will reduce the amount of curve in the "S" and give you a little more length.

Some repop rods are to large at the top, and with the bushing will bind. As others say remove the switch and see if it turns, if not it is the rod.
