Have this pic of my father in law next to an old car, My father-in-law is second from left,
Any ideas on the car

Hi Lawrie, I believe that the car in question is a 1938 Ford Deluxe Fordor Sedan.

The skirts look to me just like the skirts Ford offered as an authorized accessory in 37, 38, and 39.

Thanks, The kid second from the left is my father in law Clive, he died 4 yrs ago at 94, was at Guadalcanal in ww2 ,NZ Air Force .
