LeBaron Bonney headliner material source
With help from Fordbarn folks I was fortunate enough to soure my carpeting and mohair for my '34 project. I am now looking for the tan A-806 headliner material.
Jeff at Hirsch was able to supply the wool carpeting and the 30-2 rose beige mohair. I tried quite a few suppliers but so far no luck. I was able to get my visors done by Acme. Bob Westmoreland took extra effort in getting them done right. Does anyone know where Lebaron Bonney got their headliner material ? Any leads appreciated. Thank you. |

I think it came from England. Will this help?

Re: LeBaron Bonney headliner material source
My LB kit ( 40 V8 not deluxe) which was installed last fall but the kit was purchased 4 or 5 years ago was lacking enough headlining material to do the visors. I think it was SMS in Oregon that had some (at least last fall). They took FOREVER to respond to any requests as it took over a month for them to cut off a yard and send to my upholstery shop.

Re: LeBaron Bonney headliner material source
In the '40 coupe, I used LB's wool headliner material instead of what looked like to me flimsy cotton headliner material. The wool material is of excellent quality, rugged and the color is right on target. Where they got is a mystery to me. I believe there in someone here in Massachusetts that used to work for LB. i will see if I can get his name and phone number from a colleague who lived in Amesbury MA where LB was located.

Re: LeBaron Bonney headliner material source
What year car do you have? I have a roll of LB headliner material left over from a 1934 restoration. I would gladly sell the roll for the cost as it was in a 2010 when purchased.

Re: LeBaron Bonney headliner material source
For those of you looking for headliner or other material since Lebaron Bonney went under, the only source that seems to be available is Bill Hirsch as most of you know. A local upholstery shop told me they have to buy from Hirsch because the material that Lebaron Bonney purchased came in large rolls right from mills.

Sorry to hi-jack your thread. I have a '32 3 window kit that is missing the piece for the header panel. If you do have any luck I would be most grateful for a contact. Thanks Keith

Re: LeBaron Bonney headliner material source
No problem,will do.
There are a few locals here that were also left with half finished LeBaron Bonney kits here as well. Jeff at Hirsch has been very helpful on the mohair and carpeting, I am hoping he can come through on the headliner material as well. HAPPY THANKSGIVING |

Re: LeBaron Bonney headliner material source
A-804 was just napped cotton. Several suppliers carry the napped cotton headliner material if that's what it is. It was common in Ford products up into the 50s. If it's a wool material like mohair then that is likely available too as long as it's a common headliner color.
Classtique and Cartouche (Mack's) handle the napped cotton and may have some types of wool. Bill Hirsch is just a call away but I don't know what all they currently have. |

Re: LeBaron Bonney headliner material source
Once again Michael Driskell at Third Gen came through.
He is sending a full roll of material that he has at his cost. It doesn't get any better than that. Bob Westmoreland at Acme says he can have the headliner sewn to my specifications. Once again the Ford Barn has been a valuable help. Thank you to all. |
