Default 1939 axle/ tubes questions

Hello fellas ,
I have three questions I’m hoping to get answers
First :
The hub flange is distorted on my axle tube from a stubborn grease shied bolt, can this be left alone ?
I fear if I try hitting back into place it will chip out the casting ?
Question number two:
when I bought the rearend ,there was old Fence wire holding the spring to the perch, this over time wore a grove into the bottom of the perch bushing hole. now my question, When the bushing is put in it’s still centered but has the grove under it.
Can a bead of weld be put inside and then drilled out ? Or keep as is and weld the bottom of perch casting to reinforce? From future failing ? (Cracking)
Last question:
I’m wondering about light pitting on the axle how much is two much ?
Can it be sanded out ?

Rather than bumping it out, I'm thinking you could fabricate a jig to be used with a C clamp.
The axle looks good as is. Turn it over and examine the keyway for cracks at the inner end. Also, use grinding compound without a key in place, nut just tight enough to allow you to turn the drum with the compound to lap in the taper. Clean thoroughly, mount dry.
The perch should work as is with no problem.

The flange is no problem. If it was bumped out, then you would need tap it back. The axle, just as ford38v8 says. The perch, is a cinch to fix. You could just leave it, but that is so easy, and fun to fix. Find or make a steel rod that is a slip fit in the hole. With the rod in place, heat the perch at the bad spot, get it to glow, and hammer the outer area and forge the hole back into shape. If your a perfectionist, you could build up weld on the outside to reshape the perch, but not necessary.

My opinion.

1, no problem. Don't try bumping it. Just dress lightly with a file so the backplate fits over with no interference. you might need to use a wrench to hold the bolt while tightening.
2. No problem, just lightly polish and reuse. I'd be more concerned about the condition of the taper and keyway. Clean thoroughly and take off any high spots, then lap the taper to the hub. Inspect the keyway for cracks.
3. Tough call. I wouldn't worry about the strength of it, but I would be concerned about the fit of the bush. Personally I might have a go at welding it, but I don't know. It would be hard to weld it and end up with a perfectly round hole. Hard to set up for machining too. It might be worth finding other parts. I'd be interested to see what others say about that one.

It's a lot easier to correct perch hole problems, and then do any welding on the outside of the perch, verses trying to restore the bore from the inside.
