Stromberg carburettors
Is it o/k to run a Stromberg 48 carburettor on a late 3-3.16" inch bore Ford V8 engine as originally they were fitted to the 3-1/16" inch bore 1934 Ford V8 engines.

Re: Stromberg carburettors
Sure why not? you could choke the jets too. if the cfm works.
probably look at he intake size to carb for flow. maybe some adjustment. . Last edited by Tinker; 09-10-2019 at 12:01 AM. |

Re: Stromberg carburettors
No disrespect Russ. 59a is not a 99 or 81a but really not that different.

Re: Stromberg carburettors
Actually, as a 48 has slightly larger venturis than a 97, it may be even a better choice for a 239 than a 97 or 94. It is an older design though.

Re: Stromberg carburettors
My boss has a 40 coupe with a wicked built 3 5/16 x 4 1/4 59AB Canadian aluminum heads ----- all the goodies. It has been in the "Great American Race" twice & it has a single stromberg 48 on it . Has a 1" phenolic spacer under carb. This car ridiculously fast , will pull from 30mph in high gear, has 3.54 rear gears with a corrected speedo. I have had it up to 110mph on freeway & still pulling strong. All with a Stromberg 48
