Default My daughter and I made the local paper.

We were out adjusting brakes over the weekend when a guy from the local paper stopped by. He was just cruising around town looking for interesting ways people were spending their weekend. He snapped a few photos and was on his way.

Much to my surprise, we ended up taking up most of page one...above the fold. I have to say, I am really please with some of the pictures.

My daughter is loving her 15 minutes of fame.

Congratulations ! Now run out and buy a dozen copies of the paper for her aunts, uncles, grandparents and whomever else. In the future you can bring it up on the computer but it Is not the same as having an original newspaper !

Hi KJB,

Thanks for posting a most important experience.

With all of the juvenile problems we see today with drugs, school drop out, etc., there is an old saying:

"If you don't raise your children, someone else will!"

Heard an 80 year old judge say on the radio in the early 1970's that every time he had a delinquent juvenile in his court room, he always asked the same question:

"Did your Dad ever take you fishing?" He said, "A delinquent child never one time answered yes".

He went on, not that fishing matters, but Dad's "time" with kids is the whole root to raising respectable children.

Thanks again for sharing, & may she always be your very best friend for ever & ever.

That's great.I believe Cotton Cordell said it best: "First, teach a child to love God, teach them second to love their family, teach them third to hunt and fish, and by the time they reach their teens, no dope peddler under the sun, will ever have a chance to teach them anything.

KGBnut,
That is REALLY SPECIAL!!
My Son, Gregg, (RIP), didn't make the paper when he jumped into a pool, fully dressed, & rescued a baby in the bottom of the DEEP end of a pool.
When they came up, he held the girl up by her heels, she belched a few times & began to cry!-------I NEVER heard of that technique??---"Well, Dad, you taught me that water runs DOWNHILL"

That may be true in some cases, but in my personal experience, my dad spent almost no time with me, and never went fishing (though my aunt did). I wasn't a juvenile delinquent... Or an adult delinquent either, for that matter. But if fishing works, I say go for it.

Way to go, Ken!
Your daughter looks like a natural. It's nice to see you get recognized in the Advocate for doing something you both enjoy.
Thanks for posting.
