Adding Dome Light to '30 Coupe
I'm re-doing the roof in my '30 Coupe. It was originally a Standard, but I have decided to add a Dome Light. My new roof wood came with the block to support the Dome Light, but no instructions as to where it goes.
There are four roof bows. Based on spacing, there are only two places it could fit. It looks like it could go dead center, between bows two and three. Or, it could go one more space to the rear, between bow three and bow four (which is the wider bow). Which is correct? Also, the block for the Dome Light has a tear-drop shaped cutout. Does the opening in the cutout face forward or back? I assume the wires come from the front, so I'm guessing the opening should go toward the front.

If you are going to use it to read maps or ? it should be aft of the rib,but if you are going to be judged make sure it is placed accordingly Mine is aft of the second forward rib, directly over the center of the seat,Works for me.

I'm thinking the wire comes up the rh door post and across. Someone more knowledgable will chime in I'm sure.

I might be able to build my own support bracket that I could JB Weld to the top of the dome light after I rough it up. Any suggestions? |
