Irontite sealer?
I have a small amount of water coming out the the left side header where it mates to the header extension. Am going to use NEVER SEIZE in the header bolts and RTV around the gasket between header and extension. Am wonder if the IRONTITE CERAMIC MOTOR SEAL might be a good idea also, anybody use this product?

In fact, I have used 'liquid glass' aka Ceramic seal. Follow the directions exactly ! Worked well for me. Does not mix with anti freeze, so flush engine with clean water, heat it up and put it in, pursuant of maker instructions. If you try it , let us know how you get along. |

Re: Irontite sealer?
This stuff works pretty good.
https://www.toolsource.com/misc-c-31...MaAtwrEALw_wcB I had 1 head bolt weeping coolant and saw a bit of vapor on the same side on exhaust. Put this stuff in per instructions and it stopped the leak and the vapor. Almost 2 years. Removed coolant as I do normally annually still no leak not vapor.

Just get your block super clean, all traces of anti freeze should be gone. I used the Irontite cleaner, ran it for hours. Also used a dishwasher detergent pod, rinsed and back flushed. Mixed the Irontite in a bucket and added it along with water to the cooling system. Ran it for hours. Drained the cooling system. Irontite needs to dry/cure to be fully effective. I removed the thermostat housings (8BA) and lower radiator hoses. Let it sit for about a week. Filled it with bottled water and water wetter (2 bottles). Just follow their directions, and you'll be pleased with the results.

I find that small leaks like this disappear after about 500 miles or so with nothing but regular name-brand 50-50 glycol anti-freeze. Jack E/NJ |

Re: Irontite sealer?
No more leaking water out the lower header bolt near cylinder # 8. First ran in header bolt with NEVER SEIZE and used RTV where header and header extension meet, that stopped leak right there. Next used IRONTITE FLUSH and back flushed the system, then flushed with tap water and then added IRONTITE WEATHER SEALER and coolant. No leak, but wonder where that water was coming from.
Thanks everyone for the help. |
