More thought for a useable tool, I am going to pocket out the side timing gear inpection cover, fit it with a cold rolled pocket. Turning a model A block on it's right side with a cam and gear installed, I'll melt lead into the pocket and bolt up the inspection cover while lead is molten. I will use an aluminum cam gear I have which will not stick much to the molten lead. After cooling I'll attempt to pry cover off and see will hopefully will be a female pocket of at least a dozen impregnated tooth forms in the the cover. Thoughts and opinions always welcome.

The only time I had to replace a timing gear is when I broke down and was stranded. I hopped a city bus to "Car'ls Ford Parts" in Santa Monica, bought a gear and took the city bus back. I actually had a wrench and I removed the gear cover. Then with a 8" Crescent wrench used as a hammer and a screwdriver I was able to remove and replace the nut. Replace the cover. Start up and drive away. This was in 1961. The gear was still performing well when I sold the car in 1974. Just lucky I guess.

Tom know what tools are use where. Tom has been rebuilding Model A parts and has written many articles (including the one on how to rebuild the rear end which is bible for some of us) on same for many, many years. THE VICE CLAMP IS NOT WHAT HE IS ASKING ABOUT!
